Again, I have to preface this because I’m sure someone will come @ me.
These are the hospitals that I’ve seen the MOST respect for body autonomy, informed consent and flat out support for myself, as a patient and as a doula, and my clients. You can google whatever you’d like and the hospitals can claim they’ve been voted “best hospital for mother and baby”. (I think there’s a medical city on that list which is flat out bonkers)
With the right provider you should BIRTH HERE:
At the end of the day, they are still hospitals and the experience can sometimes depend on the nurses on shift. I’ve had amazing experiences at terrible hospitals because we’ve been lucky enough to get an incredible nurse. And I’ve had shitty nurses at amazing hospitals. The culture of these hospitals is definitely more supportive and evolving. PLUS if you’re seeing a midwife, you have access to them more in labor, than a typical OB.
The most important thing to take away from this, HOSPITAL BIRTHS REQUIRE A DOULA – period.
Midwife support with an amazing view at the BRAND NEW Texas Health Mansfield. This hospital is 10/10
Baylor University Medical Center has nitrous available for alternate pain relief
Water Birth at Harris Downtown Fort Worth
Baylor All Saints – I’ve been allowed into the OR as a doula/photographer for the last 2 births I’ve attended
Herbal bath at Harris Cleburne (look at that tub!!)
Whether or not you’re planning for a natural birth , the environment matters. I think I say this in every blog post – Birth is unpredictable so being in the right hospital VITAL. Having the right support and KNOWING YOUR OPTIONS matters.
You deserve to be respected and supported.
I’d love to hear your favorite hospitals and amazing experiences.
